The Limelight Theatre Company is a non-profit association founded by Hanna Waite with Hilary King of the old Red Pear Theatre company as its President. Red Pear held centre stage for English plays nigh on ten years in Antibes and many were very disappointed when they drew the final curtain a couple of years ago.
The aim of this new group is to promote British and European culture to the numerous nationalities in the region who speak English. The first show, Private Lives, is a classic English comedy by Noel Coward and is booked into the Théâtre Antibéa in Antibes from October 6-8. Limelight also plans to take it to Draguignan and Monaco for one night each.
According to Hanna, all the actors are local professionals apart from director, Richard Derrington, who is coming over specially from the UK to add his touch of magic to the production.
Says Hannah: ‘We aim to put on another three or four shows in 2007 |
